Newcastle United are keen to offload striker Nile Ranger after gun pose
Newcastle United have told striker Nile Ranger that he does not have a future at the club after becoming exasperated with the England under-20 international.
Ranger’s paymasters have told the player to find a new club this summer and are so keen to see the back of him that the thought of a loan move will not even be entertained.
Newcastle want £1 million for the player who repeatedly tested the patience of manager Alan Pardew last season because of his tardiness and disciplinary issues. He brought embarrassment on the club when he was pictured on the front page of a national newspaper posing with a fake handgun last month.
London-born Ranger, 20, signed a five-year contract with Newcastle last season that saw him gain the distinction of becoming most used substitute in the Premier League as he made 23 appearances from the bench. However, his only goal came in a 4-3 defeat of Chelsea in the Carling Cup.
Newly-promoted Premier League side Queens Park Rangers and Bolton have been linked with the former Southampton trainee.
Newcastle remain convinced that a permanent move is required to invigorate the 6ft 1in forward’s career and his removal from the payroll will raise the club’s chances of signing French international Kevin Gameiro from Lorient.
