Madjid Bougherra looking to quit Rangers for 'Arsenal or Newcastle'
Madjid Bougherra wants to quit Rangers and return to the Premier League – with Arsenal or Newcastle his most likely destination.
Arsene Wenger made a special point of praising the Algerian international at the World Cup last year, and the Gunners boss could revive his interest in the 28-year-old now that he’s signalled his intention to move.
The Magpies are also in need of an experienced centre-back, but the former Charlton defender, who has a year left on his contract, insists he will only walk away from the Scottish champions with the blessing of boss Ally McCoist.
Bougherra said: ‘My focus is still on the Premier League. I played there for six months with Charlton and want to go back as six months isn’t a long time.’
Reports claimed the Algerian wanted to buy out the remaining year of his Gers contract.
But he added: ‘I don’t want any trouble between me and the club. I want any move to be easy.’
