Newcastle make bid for La Liga midfielder - reports

Post  Guest on Wed Jun 08, 2011 5:32 am

Newcastle are in the running to sign Sevilla midfielder Romaric, it has been claimed.

According to talkSPORT, Turkish duo Galatasaray and Trabzonspor have joined the Magpies in the race for the 28-year-old, with all three sides alleged to have already made formal approaches for Romaric.

"We have two offers from two clubs in Turkey and another from an English club," Sevilla president Jose Maria Del Nido said. "We will study them and talk to the player."

Romaric - an Ivory Coast teammate of Newcastle ace Cheik Tiote - can operate in defence, in a holding midfield role, or as a creative driving force, and would no doubt provide Alan Pardew with a versatile option, should he move to St James' Park.

Newcastle are already making grand plans for the transfer window as they look to outlay the majority of the £35 million received from the sale of Andy Carroll in January.
