Re: who thinks ashley will.
It might sound a bit daft this but it's not really about spending big on players, it's about being clever enough to actually identify potential big players for as little as possible.
Think about this.
We let Nolan go but we brought in Cabaye, Marveaux and Ba, now their quality is unquestionable but adaptation to a new club and a new league can possibly hamper immediate progress but on the other hand they could actually sprint straight from the blocks.
The thing is, even if we paid £20 million for a known performer, it still guarantees us nothing in terms of him having any better of a start than those 3 mentioned.
Of course I'm not saying the club shouldn't spend. What I mean is, if we are to spend decent money, then you can guarantee that the player will be extra special.
With the scouting network we have in force now, i believe we can nurture a team/squad of players that can do the business for us in a few years time and for many years to come.
I still think Ashley will plough in a good 15/20 million before the season kicks off (miniumum)
