Danny Simpson to sign a 5 year contract
.
News in the Daily Mail today that Newcastle right back Danny Simpson is set to sign a new five year deal at the club.
Danny signed a deal 18 months ago when Newcastle were still in the England second division and the terms of that contract were a lot less than he was looking for.
It was £10K/week. so in that context it makes some sense that he gets a new improved contract after becoming Newcastle’s first choice right back.
Danny made 31 appearances for the first team last season, and so far has 72 appearances and one goal for the Tyneside club.
Danny had two tears left on his contract so this takes him to the summer of 2016, and his form last season was so good that apparently England selectors were taking a close look at him.
But Danny still needs to improve, and maybe with another full season in the Premier League he can reach his full potential next year.
It seems that talks have already been proceeding on a new deal, and the Salford-born 24 year-old is expected to sign the new five year deal shortly.
Well at least some players at Newcastle get offered the deals.
We’d love to see Kevin Nolan, Joey Barton and Jose Enrique sign new deals at Newcastle, but it’s looking like maybe only the captain Kevin Nolan, will do that.
Comments welcome.
