Alan Pardew is working around the clock to get in new faces that will get "bums on seats" at St James' Park next season.

To gets 'arses on seats' you would expect an earth-shattering signing ... or perhaps two ... but will we get them, or two or three foreign players no-one has ever heard of?

Having lost Andy Carroll; Joey Barton being told he is not wanted; and Jose Enrique looking to leg it out the back door ... we could do with some good news.

And I mean a MASSIVE signing! But will we get it?

Assistant manager John Carver: “The manager has already said that he wants players to get bums on seats at St James’ Park, and that’s what we’re working to do.

“There are a lot of negotiations going on, and there has been progress.

“But, like everyone else, we’re waiting to hear back from clubs and players.

“This is a huge club, and not so long ago it was playing Champions League football and attracting top players.

“We hope, in time, we can get back to that situation, but this is still a club which sells itself because of its fan-base.

“We’re in a strong position.

“We set ourselves a target last season, and achieved it.

“We’ll set out goals and targets for next season, and we’re confident we can move the club forward.

“There’s been huge progress here over the past couple of seasons, and everyone’s working towards continuing that .

“We need to strengthen the squad, and there are a lot of talks going on.”
