With all the twists and turns that have gone on with Gervinho this week, it’s good to know that Newcastle will make their first signing of the summer within the next few days
Yohan Cabaye will become a Newcastle United player before the weekend, and he will be Newcastle’s first signing of the summer, and the French International will cost €5M (about £4.3M) and that has to be a good buy for the club.

Cabaye is still on international duty with France – they play in the Ukraine tonight – but the French press say he is due in Newcastle on Friday and will take a medical and then sign a five-year deal, with the compensation already being agreed for the player.

That will be a good start for Newcastle and it’s a great price, and it was a release clause in the 25 year old’s contract at Lille.

Yohan joined Lille back in 1998 as a 12 year-old and made his debut for the club in 2004, and since then he has played 253 times with 39 goals for the French Champions,

He is a box-to-box midfielder and Cabaye stands 5’9″ tall and played for all the French Youth side from U16 through U21, and so far has 3 full caps for his country.

He looks to be a great signing for the Tyneside club.
