Newcastle Reported Interest In Ghana International Midfielder
.
News today that Newcastle United may be interested in Getafe midfielder Derek Boateng
However, the 6′ tall defensive midfielder turned 28 last month, and doesn’t fit into the general profile of players Newcastle are likely to sign this summer – young players who can still improve on Tyneside.
Boateng was signed in the summer of 2009 by Getafe for €1M, from German club FC Köln, and he could probably be signed for around that amount in the summer.
Boateng started his career back in 1993 with the Liberty Professional based in his home town Accra, Ghana, and he moved to Greek club Kalamata in 1999.
Derek has played 22 times for Ghana and started out as a striker or winger, but as he has become older, he has dropped back and now plays in central midfield.
This is a report in the Sun and we have no idea if its true.
But if Newcastle are willing to let captain Kevin Nolan leave in the summer, you have to think that Newcastle have some central midfield players already lined up – in addition to Frenchman Yohan Cabaye, who will sign for the club tomorrow.
The Sun is reporting that Bolton Wanderers are also keen on the 28-year-old, who apparently wants to leave who is believed to wanting to leave the Madrid based club.
Apparently Wigan Athletic, Sunderland and Stoke City. are interested in the player, but their report says Newcastle are the favorites to sign the player.

Re: Newcastle Reported Interest In Ghana International Midfielder
The only problem with these type of players is, no one really knows how old they really are lol.
But on a serious note, I think we should be looking at younger talent because that's the only way we are going to kick on and actually get to the point of achieving something.
Keeping the nucleus of young players with heart and desire to want to be the best could eventually have us with a really well gelled squad not just a team of just 11.
