It’s far too sexy football
RUUD GULLIT has been sacked from his £4million-a-year job after being branded a playboy by the president of Chechnya.
The former Chelsea boss suffered an extraordinary personal attack from Ramzan Kadyrov, president of Russian club Terek Grozny.
And Gullit admitted after last night's 1-0 defeat to Amkar Perm: "The result does not matter. I was on my way out anyway."
Gullit, 48, was appointed Terek coach in January but soon fell out with Kadyrov, also president of Russian republic Chechnya.
A club statement declared: "Ramzan Kadyrov is very unhappy with Ruud Gullit's approach to his obligations. Instead of working hard he thinks mostly about the bars and discos.
"Not only did he return two days later than the rest of the team after the recent international break, he then preferred to take the footballers to a night club.
"Terek has never looked so hopeless. The team which was given the task of qualifying for the Europa League is trailing 14th out of 16."
There are severe constraints on drinking and nightlife in the hardline Muslim city of Grozny but Gullit lived by the club's training ground 200 miles away in the lively coastal resort of Kislovodsk.
The former Dutch superstar also infuriated locals by saying he was shocked to see a Kalashnikov rifle on every corner of Chechnya.
Kadyrov's statement added: "By blackening the Republic where he works, Gullit crossed the borders of human decency. The Chechen Republic has its traditions which were formed over the centuries.
"We do not have drugs sold at every corner and indecent night establishments with which Holland and Europe are awash.
"Gullit was signed not to spend his time in the night clubs and discos but to work in the football club and achieve results."
