TEAM NEWS

Mousa Dembele and Orlando Sa will miss Fulham's Premier League clash with Newcastle. Martin Jol hopes to have the attackers back next week, although they miss out this time with hip and hamstring complaints respectively. Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer (spine) is still two weeks away from a first-team return, while Zdenek Grygera (knee) is out for the season.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew will make a late decision on midfielder Yohan Cabaye. The Frenchman left the pitch on a stretcher with an ankle injury after being caught by QPR midfielder Shaun Derry last weekend, and remains a doubt. Striker Peter Lovenkrands (calf) has returned to training, but central defender Steven Taylor (Achilles) and midfielders Sylvain Marveaux (groin) and Sammy Ameobi (knee) remain on the sidelines. Meanwhile, Cheick Tiote, Demba Ba and new signing Papiss Demba Cisse are on African Cup of Nations duty.

MANAGER QUOTES

Martin Jol on Fulham's small amount of activity in the transfer window: "We are busy. It is not easy to get good players in this transfer window. We have good players and if nothing changes we will be fine. We always look to strengthen the squad and every other team in Europe is doing the same."

Alan Pardew: "The more it goes and the closer it gets to the end. I have said all along, that last six games, if we can find ourselves in with a shout, there might be less pressure on us, so we could make an impact. We are, after 21 games, the sixth best team, and that's what we can try to improve on. It would be an absolute marvel if we finished sixth or fifth, but we are going to try, and see where it takes us."

MATCH FACTS

The last five matches between Fulham and Newcastle at Craven Cottage have been won by a single-goal margin.

Fulham have won three of their last four Premier League home matches and three of those games have been played against teams in the top seven of the table.

Newcastle have kept just one clean sheet in their last eight Premier League away trips.

The Magpies have conceded 52% of their goals from set pieces, the highest percentage in the top division.

Newcastle have kept three clean sheets in their last four Premier League matches.

Half of Newcastle’s 30 Premier League goals have been scored by Demba Ba who will miss this match as he is at the African Cup of Nations.

After seeing his Spurs side win the first two games against Newcastle, Martin Jol suffered four straight defeats against the Magpies as Tottenham manager in the Premier League.

Jol was sacked as Tottenham boss after defeat to Newcastle in October 2007.

Fulham have drawn 49 games 0-0 in Premier League history.

Newcastle have won just one of their last five Premier League away games in London (W1 D2 L2).
