Alan Pardew's attempts to sign defender Douglas Franco Teixeira could be thwarted by the arrival of Steve McClaren at FC Twente.

The 24-year-old has been high on Pardew's radar for a few weeks and it was thought that the Dutch side were willing to enter into negotiations.
However, that may now have changed.
McLaren knows the Brazilian from his first spell at the Eredivisie club and tried to take him to Wolfsburg when he was manager at the German club.
Douglas' contract runs until the end of the season but according to the Newcastle Chronicle, sources in the Netherlands he will now only be sold if "a significant cash bid" is made.
Pardew has already seen an initial bid for Watford defender Adrian Mariappa turned down this week.
